The roads were closed as Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif was in the city. He visited Jamia Naeemia and Central Police Office Lahore.
The roads were blocked hours before the PM’s movements. It led to a traffic blockade on main roads of the city including Ferozpur Road, Allama Iqbal Road, Multan Road, Lower Mall, Bank Road, Mall Road and Ravi Road. Commuters had to face a lot of inconvenience as they remained stuck for hours. They kept honking horns their horns and even some altercations were reported.
Koral Interchange opens for traffic
Fazal Shah, a resident of Shahdara, said he had to go to Kalma Chow for important work. When he left home, he found traffic stuck on Shahdara Chowk, Lower Mall, Mall Road and Ferozpur Road. He kept switching from one road to another, but to no avail. It took him over three hours to reach his destination which is not more than half an hour away in normal circumstances.
Ijaz Haider, another commuter, said that he travelled from Garden Town to the Railway Station reservation office. He was stuck for hours on Canal Road and Allama Iqbal Road. Meanwhile, Punjab Home Minister Rana Sanaullah said there was no traffic jam in the city.
