Terror threat alert issued in Hyderabad

Educational institutes, government offices to be targeted

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Range police Wednesday issued a terrorist threat alert when they received a letter issued by DIG Hyderabad's office.

The letter was addressed to the nine SSPs of as many districts in Hyderabad division and the threat alert was given for educational institutions and government offices for all nine districts.

"It has been learnt that the terrorists have planned to target educational institutions and government offices as well as installations in Pakistan. No further details are available," reads a confidential letter issued by Hyderabad's DIG office.

The letter cited an intelligence report about the threat. The SSPs have been asked to take precautionary measures and to submit a compliance report to the DIG office.

The letter stated that ''extreme vigilance and heightened security be ensured by all concerned."

The terror threat comes in the wake of the recent wave of deadly terrorist attacks in the country which led to the death of 100 persons and injuries to scores within a seven-day period.
