Samsung delays release of Galaxy S8

Samsung fans have been anxiously waiting for the release of new flagship devices Galaxy S8 and S8+. The wait has been extraordinarily long given the fact that its last flagship device Note 7 went up in flames and had to be recalled.

However, it now seems Samsung fans will still have to wait a little longer as report claims the South Korean smartphone manufacturer might push the release date of Samsung S8 duo by a week. According to the company’s original plans, Samsung intended to release the devices on April 21, after unveiling it on March 29.



Noted phone leaker Evan Blass claims that his trusted sources have told him Samsung's moving the global release of Galaxy S8 by a week to April 28.

While there’s no clear reason why the release has been rescheduled, it seems that Samsung is proceeding with caution this year given last year’s fiasco surrounding Note7 after a rushed debut.

However, the launch event in New York City on March 29 is still on. The company will officially unveil the handsets for the first time, along with a new Gear VR headset compatible with their designs.

What to expect

If we go by the images and videos leaked so far, the S8 features no physical home button and uses three capacitive touch keys instead. In a video leaked last month, a newer USB C port can be spotted at the bottom of the device along with a much appreciated 3.5mm headphone jack.



Rumours also suggest the S8 devices to have Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 processor with 4GB RAM. The edge-to-edge bezel less display might allow for a 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch QHD AMOLED display in the two new devices.

The S8 is also expected to include Samsung’s new dock, giving it a desktop-like experience. The new ‘DEX’ feature will make the Android device function like a personal computer when docked.
