The minister made these remarks while presiding over the fourth syndicate meeting of Government Sadiq College Women University, Bahawalpur on Saturday. Gillani said the government would ensure the admission of all deserving students in the domain of higher education.
"Promotion of research-based education is the top priority of the government and special measures would be taken to boost the publication of research journals in the domain of higher education," the minister noted.
He said the subject of patriotism would be made part of curricula for the socialisation of upcoming generation to infuse the positive and constructive values of patriotism in the youth.
"To meet the current socio-economic challenges at the global level, the creative faculties of our youth could only be sharpened by promoting the culture of intellectual competitiveness which is vital to have best human resource base," the minister maintained.
The syndicate meeting granted approval for establishment of university's endowment fund, appointing the member of finance and planning committee, creating the post of resident auditor and the contractual appointment of the faculty members. The meeting also gave approval of the appointment of teaching and non-teaching staff through the selection board during the last two months.
The meeting was attended by Government Sadiq College Women University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Tallat Afza, Government College University Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Ali, MPA Fouzia Ayub Qureshi, MPA Sumaira Sami, MPA Haseena Naz, Finance Department Deputy Secretary Faiqa Sehar, Higher Education Department Deputy Secretary Tariq Hameed Bhatti, Education Board Chairman Prof Masood Akhter, prominent educator Najma Jafri, industrialist Dr Rana Muhammad Tariq and Registrar Prof Sabeeha Khakwani.
