Ali Zafar will not perform at the Pakistan Super League final

Singer and composer Ali Zafar, in a series of tweets revealed that he will not be performing at the Pakistan Super League finale.

Recently the  buzz was that Ali Zafar had been roped in to perform at the final which will be held in Lahore.

However, putting all speculations to rest, Ali tweeted that he, for certain, will not be performing at the final on March 5.

He tweeted: "Contrary to the news, I won't be performing at the PSL closing ceremony. It is indeed a big moment, hope we get to celebrate in safety."



In another tweet he confessed as to why he won't be able to make it to the final match which will be played between Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators: "Unfortunately stuck with shooting schedule for the film. But lots of love and prayers," the Kill Dill actor wrote.




The singer-actor who wrote the PSL anthem sent his well wishes to the nation, hoping that all Pakistanis would once again witness the magic in cricket stadiums. "I remember the moment while writing the lyrics "phir stage sajay ga" wishing our stadiums would once again experience the magic :)"



The Channo singer cleared the speculations regarding him backing out of the performance at the final, when one Twitter user asked: I wonder if AZ backed out or if the news was incorrect from the start."

To which Ali replied, "Would never back out whenever required for my country. The news was incorrect."



Ali composed the PSL anthem for the second time in a row this year.

Speaking with The Express Tribune, Zafar said he was honoured to have been chosen to write, compose and perform the anthem again. And he was aware of the higher expectations this time around. “After last time’s phenomenal response I assume the expectations will be much higher this year. Therefore I have tried to make a song that’s fun, and not only celebrates the success of last year’s achievement but also anticipates what’s in store for the year to come.”
