Two KESC power plants shut down

Express May 15, 2010

KARACHI: Low gas pressure led to two power plants of the Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) to be shut down.

Protests in several areas of Karachi erupted over the increased power outages. The city's power shortfall has climbed to 260 megawatts, after closure of the Combined Cycle and SITE gas power plants.

Various areas of Karachi, including Sadar and A B Sina Line are undergoing increased loadshedding, and residents are reacting strongly.

A KESC truck was also set on fire during protests outside the KESC office in PHC Society.
