KARACHI: Bestway Cement Limited, the country’s largest cement-maker, has said that it is going to set up a brownfield plant with a capacity of 6,000 tons of clinker per day in Haripur, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. The company has signed an agreement with Sinoma International Engineering Co of China, according to a notice sent to the Pakistan Stock Exchange on Thursday. Bestway became the top cement producer in April 2015 when it took over management control of Lafarge Pakistan Cement, which had production capacity of 2.5 million tons per annum. After the acquisition, total capacity of Bestway Cement rose to more than 8 million tons per annum - 18% of the entire industry’s capacity in the country. Earlier, Pakistan’s top cement producer was Lucky Cement.
