22 Indian fishermen arrested

Maritime Security Agency seizes five boats along with the crew.

Express March 18, 2011

Twenty-two Indian fishermen were arrested by the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency on Friday.

The Maritime Security Agency said the Indian fishermen had crossed into Pakistan’s territorial waters. The security agency has seized five boats along with the crew.

The fishermen will be processed at the Dock Police Station and before being shifted to jail.

Hundreds of Indian fishermen are locked up in Pakistani jails and the same is true for Pakistani fishermen who crossed into Indian waters.

Pakistan's side of the maritime border is said to have a richer deposit of marine life due to over fishing on the Indian side.
