A Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) team from Multan raided a hideout of terrorists belonging to the Jamaatul Ahrar (JuA) faction of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan in the Muhammad Wala area, some 30 kilometres from Multan on the western bank of the Chenab River, a CTD spokesperson said.
The CTD teams laid siege to the hideout and asked the terrorists to turn themselves in. However, they didn’t surrender and started firing at the police with automatic weapons and even hurled hand grenades.
The CTD team retaliated and a gunfight ensued, the spokesperson said. When the firefight ended, six terrorists lay dead, while their four colleagues had managed to flee. A cache of arms and ammunition, including hand grenades, pistols and explosives, was recovered from the hideout.
