Verdict announced: Court awards 30-year jail terms in murder case

Accused Zil-e-Hasnain and Mehmood had killed a man over property dispute

SARGODHA: A court awarded 30-year-jail terms to two accused for their involvement in a murder case on Wednesday. The verdict was announced by Additional District and Sessions Judge Arif Khan Niazi.

The prosecution told the court on September 16, 2014, accused Zil-e-Hasnain and Mehmood Hassan had gunned down Hassan Shah over a property dispute. However, the police arrested the accused and registered a case against them. Later, a challan was submitted in the court.

After hearing the arguments, the judge awarded 25 years imprisonment to Zile Hasnain and five years jail term to Mehmood Hassan along with a fine of Rs500,000 as compensation money. The culprits were sent to district jail, Sargodha.

Earlier on January6, 2017, an anti-terrorist court awarded 35 years imprisonment to an accused who was involved in terrorist activities in Sargodha. The judgment was announced by ATC Judge Tariq Mehmood Zargham.

The prosecution told the court that counter terrorism department officials arrested accused Niaz Muhammad from Lorry Adda Sargodha on January, 24, 2016 and seized two suicidal jackets and a pistol from his possession. Niaz was also wanted by the police in a number of terrorist activities in the district.

Similarly on December 2, 2016, a court awarded death sentence to an accused for his involvement in a double murder case in Sargodha. Accused Sahib Khan had gunned down his wife and daughter in May 2015 as he doubted their character.
