People snub ban on flying kites

Shopkeepers have stockpiled kites of all colours and designs which are being sold openly

RAWALPINDI: People are flagrantly violating the kite flying ban as kites are seen soaring over the sky in many localities of the garrison city. Kites have been observed hovering over in areas including Waris Khan, Naz Cinema, College Road, Umer Road, Dhoke Khaba, Dhoke Elahi Bukush, Nadeem Colony, Javed Colony and Chaman Zar. Zia, a resident of Shamsabad said that shopkeepers have stockpiled kites of all colours and designs along with other accessories including threads and strings which are being sold openly. Parents are worried, as it is a dangerous activity. CPO Israr Ahmed Khan said strict action would be taken against kite fliers adding that no one would be allowed to violate rule of law.
