The United States seemingly wants newly-elected Somalian president to make the country "great again."

"Make America Great Again" was US President Donald Trump's campaign slogan and has reached iconic status since. The bright red caps were a prominent feature at Trump rallies.

For the Somalian version of the cap, the red was replaced with a light blue and white. The Somalian leader tweeted a picture of the cap as did the Twitter account of the US Embassy in Mogadishu.

US-Somalian diplomatic relations restarted last year after a 25 year break in ties. August Schwartz became the first ambassador to the country in a quarter of a century after Somalia’s government practically collapsed in 1991.

Mohamed who served as vice president of Somalia for eight months in 2011 and 2012, was elected as Somalia’s 9th president on February 8. He assumed office on Thursday.
