As a result, both suffered injuries and were shifted to the local hospital but they succumbed to injuries. The police opined the murder was a result of an old enmity. A case had been registered against unidentified assailants.
Three killed in road accidents
Three people were killed in different road accidents in the city. The police said two motorcycles collided near Chak No 297 causing death of a 22-year-old Ehtisham. Similarly, 70-year-old Muhammad Azam was killed when a speedy car hit him near Dastagir Colony, Gojra while he was crossing the road. In another accident, 57-year-old Shan Bibi received serious injuries after falling from a motorcycle near Sehgal City, Sammundri Road. However, she breathed her last on way to the hospital. Meanwhile, a body of an unidentified man was recovered from Dhobi Ghaat.
Motorcycle lifters arrested
The police have busted a motorcycle-lifting gang and recovered 16 motorcycles from their possession. A police official said a special police team raided various parts of Faisalabad and arrested eight members of a gang. Those arrested were identified as Ilyas alias Abbas, Adil Pathan, Zahid Mehmood, Abdus Sattar, Muhammad Asif, Muhammad Afzal, Ramazan and Sajjad Ali.
The police also seized 16 motorcycles, 22 mobile phones, Rs400,000 in cash and illicit weapons from their possession. The accused were wanted by the police in about 100 cases. Meanwhile, City Police Officer Afzaal Kausar announced cash prize and appreciation letters for the police team which arrested the gang.
41 criminals apprehended
The police arrested 41 criminals, including 39 proclaimed offenders from different parts of the city. A police official said the police recovered six pistols, 13.890 kilogrammes of Charas and 35 litres of liquor from the possession of arrested criminals.
Illegal gas decanting
The police claimed to have arrested eight shopkeepers on charges of illicit gas decanting in various parts of the city.
The police said they conducted raids in different parts of the city and nabbed eight shopkeepers when they were decanting LPG in gas cylinders illegally. The suspects have been shifted to the police station while cases have been registered against them.
Action against kite-flying
Various teams have been constituted to take strict action against kite-flying, sale, purchase and manufacturing of material in the district.
A spokesperson of local administration said officials had be instructed to take stern action against those involved in kite-flying.
