LAHORE: An art exhibition showcasing works of budding artists as well as seasoned artists of the country opened at Alhamra Art Centre on Saturday. The exhibition organised by the Artists Association of Punjab (AAP) will continue till February 20.

Punjab Governor Rafiq Rajwana was the chief guest at opening ceremony of the group show, which features artworks of 50 artists from all over Pakistan.

Every year, the grand exhibit showcases hundreds of paintings, sculptures and graphic arts representing diversity of ideas, images, techniques and mediums.

The Artists Association of Punjab is a forum of artists, who joined hands to create a platform where any artist could become a member and participate if he passes through qualifying scrutiny. The association is a self-reliant body with a small membership fee.

Only the best works go on display. Paintings and other exhibits are selected by a group of senior art masters and can be purchased at reasonable prices.

AAP Chairperson Prof Ijaz ul Hasan believes the annual event becomes possible every year because of the joint efforts of the association. “The success of this exhibition and seminar also lies in the participation of viewers,” he added.
