Street crimes: IGP issues stern warning to officials

All relevant SP, SDPO, SHO and patrolling officers directed to increase their vigilance against street criminals

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad’s top cop Friday warned police officials of disciplinary action in the event street crimes perpetrated by criminals riding on motorcycles is reported in their respective areas.

Taking strict notice of rising street crime in the capital, Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) Tariq Masood Yasin directed all relevant SP, SDPO, SHO and patrolling officers to increase their vigilance against street criminals.

In case of street crimes are reported from their respective areas, the officers would be held responsible.

In addition to being held responsible, the relevant police official would have to appear before the IGP to explain how the crime took place and face the adequate and disciplinary action in case negligence is discovered.

He asked senior police officials to ensure they are monitoring the capital through cameras installed under the safe city project.
