Land scam: NAB arrests five men for corruption

KARACHI: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Karachi arrested on Friday five men nominated for usurping 358 plots. According to a NAB spokesperson, a reference was filed against these men for their alleged criminal role in usurping the plots of 358 genuine allottees of Pak Punjab Cooperative Housing Society Limited.

The arrested men were identified as Sajid Ali Khan Yousufzai, purported ex-secretary of the society, Mirza Munir Baig, the then assistant registrar for Sindh government’s cooperation department, Khudadad Khan, Gulshan-II sub-registrar and Muhammad Arif and Adnan.

The spokesperson named Falaknaz Builders, Marhaba and Platinum Builders and Sanober Builders as the ones who constructed various illegal housing and commercial projects on the land and earned billions of illegal benefits. “There are 33 nominated persons, of whom 13 persons are on bail, five have been arrested on Friday whereas 15 are at large,” he explained.

Meanwhile, FIA’s Anti-Human Trafficking Cell arrested Majid Saleem Jafri, who is an ex-assistant director at NADRA and was nominated in an FIR for making fake CNICs of alien residents.
