ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat Thursday asked the concerned authorities to regularise teachers working on daily wages at the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE).

“Teachers’ issues should be resolved on priority basis,” said committee member Senator Kamal Ali Agha during the meeting held with Senator Talha Mahmood in the chair.

Agha said that a commitment made for regularising daily-wage teachers should be fulfilled at the earliest.

Senator Shahi Syed said rules should be relaxed for teachers who were working on daily wages under the FDE. He added that teachers were considered to be honourable members of the society and it does not seem nice that they demand their rights by protesting on the roads. Meanwhile, State Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry told the media that he was optimistic about resolving the issue by the next meeting.
