Skardu Blizzard: Avalanche wreaks havoc in Shigar

Intermittent snowfall in Skardu resulted in an avalanche which uprooted several trees and destroyed infrastructure

ISLAMABAD: At least 40 heads of cattle were killed and a house completely destroyed in an avalanche which struck the Shigar area of Skardu on Wednesday. Intermittent snowfall in Skardu resulted in an avalanche in Arandu village which uprooted several trees and destroyed infrastructure in the area.  However, locals narrowly escaped the mishap and have been shifted to safer areas. On the other hand, tourists are stranded in the hilly areas due to blockage of roads amid a shortage of food items and medicines.
