Police said Amir Fayyaz, 40 was a booked for the murder of a car dealer named Kashif alias Kaali in Samanabad police station in 2013. The suspect went into hiding for three years but started attending court proceedings after get a bail from court a few months ago.
On Tuesday, Amir was going back after a hearing in the court of additional sessions judge Liaquat Kharal when the armed suspect opened fire at him as he boarded his vehicle in the parking area near the judges’ gate.
The attacker fired about two dozen rounds and shot the victim at least eight times before fleeing. Amir was shifted to Mayo Hospital but succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
The suspect identified as Hamza Asif is reportedly 15-year-old and is an adopted son of Kashif. Islampura SHO and investigations in-charge said the case would be registered after the victim’s family registered their complaint.
This is not the first such incident in the court premises. Two brothers booked for murder were gunned down in the dock during a hearing in an additional district and sessions judge’s courtroom in March 2011.
