PPP leader Shaukat Basra injured, assistant killed in Bahawalnagar gunfight

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Shaukat Basra was injured while his personal assistant killed in an exchange of fire in Bahawalnagar district on Monday.
According to Express News, Basra was on his way to participate in a rally when he got into a heated argument with members of Pakistan Muslim League-Zia (PML-Z) in Bahawalnagar's Haroonabad area, following which an exchange of fire took place, injuring several people.

Basar received serious injuries as a result of the firing, while his personal assistant was killed. The injured were shifted to a local hospital.
In a similar incident last year, at least three people were killed while two others were injured when workers of PPP and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz opened fire on each other within the jurisdiction of Khazana police station.
