PML-N oppose Deedar's appointment as NAB chairman

Chaudry Nisar says he will write back to President Zardari after consultation with his party leader.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) has decided to oppose the appointment of retired Justice Syed Deedar Hussain Shah as the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman on Saturday.

President Asif Ali Zardari had earlier written a letter for consultation on Hussain's appointment to the Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and National Assembly Opposition Leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.

Chaudry Nisar says he will write back to President Zardari after consultation with his party leader - Nawaz Sharif.

Sources claim that PML-N considers the appointment to be incorrect as Hussain had been a member of the Sindh assembly and is biased towards PPP.

Meanwhile, PPP has alleged that a person's eligibility should be independent of his past political affiliations.

According to reports Chaudry Nisar will be announcing his party's stance tomorrow at a press conference.

Naveed Shah | 13 years ago | Reply After remaining out in the cold for the entire period of General Musharraf’s dictatorship, the major political parties had vowed to adopt a national rather than partisan outlook, as reflected in the now dead in the water Charter of Democracy, and not undermine one another to the benefit of extra-constitutional forces. Since the PPP returned to power after the 2008 general elections, it has been following the policy of national reconciliation and was supported by the opposition PML-N in all its major decisions. Now, from the various fractions, attitudes and actions of the political class, a disjuncture and shift is visible. It seems everyone is back to looking to their narrow interests. The policy of personal interests would damage the hardly restored democracy. Musharraf had taught a great lesson to many politicians but it seems that until they are punished they do not understand. The period of eight year exile is enough for those who understand but if a person do not want to learn what could be done.

This is no time for fun and games.Look at the corruption around us; our country ,our future generations is being destroyed by this evil of corruption. There are good ,honest God fearing citizens in the country. Please this is no time for politics. I agree with PML-N stand. Justice should not only be done but those seeking justice should feel justice is being done.
