LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has dismissed as non-maintainable a petition seeking direction for the government to take action against those involved in selling ‘fake and substandard’ stents to cardiac patients.

Petitioner Khalid Mahmood had submitted the ‘stent mafia’ had been minting money by selling unregistered stents to cardiac patients in Lahore and the authorities instead of taking action against them were acting as silent spectators.

The plaintiff termed this an ‘inhuman act’ as the patients were the victims of the alleged fraud.

After hearing the arguments of the petitioner on Friday, LHC Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah ruled the applicant should approach the relevant forum instead of approaching the court.
