KARACHI: It’s only been a month since we entered 2017, and we have already witnessed a horde of new-fangled trends taking over. This time around, we spotted Hollywood A-listers incorporating stylish stripes into floor-length ensembles. What made their bold sartorial choices even more eye-catching was the fact that the stripes were not done in dull hues, but rather loud and vibrant colours. The two starlets that have left us floored with their fashion picks are actors Michelle Dockery and Yara Shahidi. Here’s how they brought some playful lines to the red carpet of the Screen Actors Guild Awards last weekend.

The 35-yer-old actor was a risk taker in a multi-coloured Elie Saab high-necked dress featuring vertical lines. She pulled off the daring outfit with such ease, that we now know this Downton Abbey starlet cannot make a fashion faux pas. Michelle paired her gown with black Jimmy Choo heels, providing the perfect contrast to her vibrant ensemble. Even though she wore a red pout, she did not look over-the-top even one bit.

The fashion icon opted for a Naeem Khan creation on the occasion. The voluminous gown featured multi-coloured sequinned stripes that ran horizontal across the sheer black organza skirt and in an arrow pattern on the dress’s high-necked top. Yara accessorised the halter number with garnet and ruby earrings by Jane Taylor jewellery, along with a black-woven Ona Ehrilch clutch. She kept the rest of her look simple wearing her hair slicked back and keeping the focus on her clothes.
