Gen Qamar says a unit is a grooming place for soldiers

ISLAMABAD: Drawing inspiration from war veterans and their spirit of sacrifice, Pakistan Army has always measured up to the challenges and expectations of the nation, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa said on Wednesday.

The army chief visited the 16 Baloch Regiment at Sialkot Cantonment, where he was commissioned as Second Lt.

Both the COAS and his father have commanded this battalion, the Inter Services Public Relations pointed out.

Gen Qamar spent the day with serving and retired soldiers and war veterans of the battalion who felt proud to see an officer of their battalion as the army chief.

Recollecting the memories, Gen Qamar said that a unit is a grooming place for the soldiers as well as the officers who undertake the challenges of professional life together.

Earlier, on his arrival to Sialkot, the army chief was received by Corps Commander Lt Gen Ikramul Haque. The chief of army staff  visited the elite Strike Corps at Multan Garrison on January 23.
