At least five people were killed and seven others injured on Tuesday as a Swat-bound passenger coach plunged into a deep ravine on Malakand Pass.

The coach was on its way from Peshawar to Swat, Radio Pakistan  reported.

The injured are being treated at District Headquarters Hospital, Malakand.

Six killed as speeding bus plunges into Rawalakot ravine

Last month, at least six people were killed and 26 others injured when a speeding bus fell into a ravine near Akhor Bun Hajeera of Rawalakot district. The bus was crammed with passengers and was en route to Forward Kahuta from Rawalpindi district. The accident took place in the Hajeera area of Rawalakot, some 155 kilometres away from the capital of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The bus driver managed to escape. Police say they have launched a manhunt. Local residents and police started the initial search and rescue operation in the area.
