LAHORE: Justice Nasir Saeed Sheikh of Lahore High Court fined the counsel of a petitioner of Rs 5,000 for wasting the court’s time in a disqualification case against PML-N MNA Mudassar Qayum Nahra.

As the proceedings started on Thursday, the judge asked the counsel Kamran Sheikh to get an adjournment due to shortage of time. However, the counsel insisted on going ahead with his arguments. After hearing his half an hour long arguments, the judge asked him to provide copies of case law in support of his arguments but the counsel did not have the case law.

This irked the judge, who imposed a fine on him for wasting the time of the court and directed him to come with complete arguments on May 17. Kamran Sheikh was representing Chaudhry Bilal Ijaz of PML-Q, who challenged the BA degree of Nahra, an elected MNA from NA 100, Gujranwala.
