Violating bylaws: RCB to act against commercial use of houses

Building Control Department issued 103 notices to owners of residential buildings being used for commercial purposes

RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB)  has planned to launch a campaign against the illegal use of residential buildings for commercial activities.

According to an RCB spokesperson, the relevant laws proscribe the use of residential buildings within cantonment limits for commercial purposes.  He added that under the law, the administrative body can seal residential plots and houses engaging in such activities.

The spokesperson further added that in this regard a summary had been sent to the  Ministry of Defense  for their approval.

The Building Control Department issued 103 notices to owners of residential buildings being used for commercial purposes.

It is pertinent to mention that a large number of illegal offices, educational institutions, hospitals, beauty parlours, shops and workshops are being run in residential buildings in these areas.
