KARACHI: A sessions court sentenced on Tuesday a man found guilty of kidnapping and raping a girl to life imprisonment. Abdul Latif was charged with barging into the house of the victim, looting valuables, kidnapping her, and then subjecting her to rape in June 2011 in Korangi Industrial Area. The accused had pleaded innocence, contending that he was falsely implicated in the case. The prosecution, on the other hand, proved offence on his part in the court. The District East additional sessions judge observed that the victim’s and other witnesses’ testimonies, and the medical report went against the accused. He was awarded life imprisonment and an additional 14 years in jail. Both the sentences will run concurrently.
