Fatal mishaps: Three killed in road accidents   

Victims were riding a motorcycle when a speedy truck hit them

SARGODHA: At least three people, including a woman, were killed while five others suffered injuries in separate road accidents in Jhal Chakian and Sadar police limits on Monday.

A police official said Imtiaz Ahmed and his two friends, residents of Dharema, were riding a motorcycle when a speedy truck hit them on Khushab Road. As a result, Imtiaz was killed on the spot while his friends suffered critical injuries.

The police have arrested truck driver Noor Hayat and shifted him behind bars.

In yet another mishap, Khurram Shahzad and Razia Bibi were killed while three others sustained injuries in a road accident on Bhalwal Road. The injured were shifted to DHQ hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, Regional Transport Authority Secretary Asif Iqbal Malik took action against overloading and imposed fines on 57 drivers.

A spokesperson of RTA said the secretary imposed a total fine of Rs75,000 on violators and also impounded 13 vehicles.
