A day after Imran Khan said he prayed President Donald Trump extends visa ban to Pakistan, the Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman has termed the US executive order "racist and counterproductive".

"Trump's move on immigration, asylum & visas targeting Muslims is racist & counterproductive. Will also increase hate crimes against Muslims in the US," he tweeted on Monday.

In the most sweeping use of his presidential powers since taking office a week ago, Trump signed an executive order on Friday to pause the entry of travelers from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen for at least 90 days.

The move, implemented immediately by authorities, precipitated large protests across major airports nationwide.

Imran's remarks also drew rebuke from some quarters that viewed it as insensitive.

nasir shahzad | 7 years ago | Reply thank you very much donald trump and I also support the Imran Khan' statement,, I highly appreciate your this step and I request to the rest of the world that they should ban the political leaders entrance from Pakistan especially after their tenure,,... In this way they must have fear in their mind "to be not corrupt" your this step will bring lot of investment in Islamic world, And people eventually be sincere with their own countries.

Frank | 7 years ago | Reply What Imran said was perhaps clumsily expressed or perhaps misreported, but what he meant is crystal clear. Pakistanis should learn to become self sufficient and build up their own country instead of running to Western countries. Getting a Western passport has become something of a national obsession for rich and poor alike, but the era of mass immigration in the West is coming to a close and there is no option now but to build Pakistan.
