Since its launch, the Air Pods has received quite the stick, first for causing the headphone jack to be ditched then for being too pricey. Above everything if you own a pair of AirPods, inevitably, one of the two Air Pods is bound to go missing.

Update all your devices as soon as possible, Apple urges users

Apple on Tuesday released the first seed of iOS 10.3 to software developers. According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, Apple is adding an AirPod support to the Find My iPhone app through the release of iOS 10.3. The app has been nicknamed ‘Find My AirPods’.

AirPod owners will be able to see either the current or last known location of their headphones. However, it seems that it would be based on where the case was last seen, not based on the actual earbuds.

Though it would be help in confirming whether the Air Pods are at home or were left behind at work, but the feature won't be able to tell exactly which bedroom you dropped them in.

A better looking alternative to Apple’s AirPods

To make up for the location limitation, Apple will blast sound out of each ear bud so that they can be traced. This might not come in handy if you drop them outside but may help if they were left inside your home.

Did Apple steal the idea of ‘Find My AirPods’?

The development has come just weeks after Apple removed an app from its app store that helps find your AirPods, Gizmodo reported.

Apple to cut iPhone production in first quarter of 2017: report

‘Finder for AirPods’, built by the iOS development team Deucks, was created with the intention of helping people locate either of their lost AirPods. The app used to provide details about where your lost earbud might be by tracking the strength of the Bluetooth signal coming from your lost AirPod.

However, shortly after the app was available for public download, it mysteriously disappeared from the App Store. The developer posted on Reddit claiming that Apple simply didn’t like the idea of helping people find their lost AirPods.

The removal also raised suspicion due to the fact that Deucks had made similar apps in the past including Finder for Fitbit, Finder for Xiaomi, Finder for Misfit, and Finder for Jawbone which are still available of App Store.
