The development budget of local bodies will be increased to make them financially independent, CM said

LAHORE: Local bodies are nurseries of democracy and are useful in solving the problems of the people at the grassroots, said Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday.

“The importance of local bodies in solving problems of the masses is proven,” he said while chairing a meeting held to review different issues related to the functioning of local governments.

The Punjab government, he said, has increased the resources of local bodies’ institutions to the tune of billions of rupees through provincial finance commission award.

“The development budget of local bodies will be increased to make them financially independent and their development budget will be enhanced for development projects,” he added.
