The petitions were filed by Islam Hussain, the Karachi Citizen Rights Protection Association, the Helpline Trust and Qazi Ather Ali, who argue that the large number of buses and shops are causing pollution. On Wednesday, justices Gulzar Ahmed and Imam Bux Baloch noted that the authorities had not taken any action yet, even though the petitions were three to four years old. Notices were issued to the law secretary, Road Transport Authority and traffic DIG, who were asked to file comments before the next hearing.
