Never after: Wedding party camps outside bride’s house

KHANEWAL: A wedding party camped outside the bride’s house for three days and left without the bride on Monday after her parents refused to send the girl with them.

According to the bride’s neighbours in Christian Colony Multan, the groom and some of his relatives had quarrelled with the girl’s father while they were drunk and he refused to let his daughter leave with them. The groom and his relatives camped outside the girl’s house until the family threatened to call the police on Monday morning.

Waseem Yunus married Khanewal resident Sadiq Masih’s daughter in a local Chruch on Friday.

The girl’s family returned home to prepare for the rukhsati, when Waseem and some of his friends got drunk and allegedly quarrelled with Sadiq Masih. Sadiq refused to let his daughter leave with the wedding party and locked his family in the house while Waseem threatened that he would not budge from the street without his bride. “My daughter has also refused to leave with them and I will not force her to stay with someone who behaves in such a manner,” Sadiq said.

basit akhtar | 13 years ago | Reply excellent step by the bride's father. For far too long, too many parents & brothers have crumbled before arrogant bridegrooms' families.just because they are the dulha's family the people think they are somewhat superior or better than the bride's family. if parents stop viewing their girls as burdens to be gotten rid of & instead encourage their daughters & sisters to complete their education & get jobs then this arrogant & misplaced superiority complex of the dulha's family will reduce.
