KARACHI:
Taking notice of the apathy of the provincial government towards prisoners at the Central Prison Karachi and other prisons, a division bench summoned on Monday the Sindh health secretary, home secretary, head of development to appear before it on March 16.
The bench was hearing an application filed by social worker Syed Iqbal Kazmi, which was converted into a constitutional petition. The petition was about the plight of jail inmates who are suffering from HIV/AIDs but are denied treatment as funds for the programme were diverted for the rehabilitation of people displaced by the floods.
The bench noted that its September 3, 2010 order had not been implemented to date.
