Actor Soha Ali accuses producer of rape

Thespian says Arshad also threatened to kill her children

LAHORE: Popular Lahore-based thespian Soha Ali has accused producer Arshad Chaudhry of raping her.

The actor has approached police in this connection. In an application submitted to the Lahore CCPO, Soha claimed Arshad had threatened her of dire consequences if she had the temerity to raise the matter. She said he had also threatened to kill her children in the event of such a development.



While officials have confirmed the submission of an application to the effect, no complaint has been registered nor has Soha been provided with security. “It’s not just me. Arshad has raped so many girls who approach him for work," Soha told The Express Tribune.

A police official speaking on the condition of anonymity said the force had been looking into the matter. “This sort of mudslinging is pervasive in Lahore's theatre community. We will take action after thoroughly probing the matter," the official said.

Lahore’s Alflah Theatre, where Soha remained employed under Chaudhry’s tutelage, has gained notoriety for 'exploiting' fresh faces aspiring to make it big in showbiz. “I will not withdraw my application. I will also approach the IGP and the chief minister for justice," Soha said.

Arshad's representatives said he had been keeping a low profile after Soha approached police. The producer remained unavailable for comments despite repeated attempts. His latest production Husn Ko Dekho starring Khusboo is being staged daily at Alfalah.
