Petroleum levy issue: Marketing companies deposit Rs440 million
The minister ordered a FIA director to go to Lahore and investigate the matter
ISLAMABAD:
The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) petroleum levy investigation has led the marketing companies to deposit Rs440 million to the national exchequer in four days.
The money was deposited to the national exchequer after Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan directed the FIA to investigate the issue of petroleum levy. The deposited money was collected from the public by the petroleum marketing companies.
Nisar had issued directives a week ago after there were reports that the marketing companies were receiving billions of rupees from the public as a petroleum levy. However, the amount was not being deposited to the national exchequer. The minister ordered a FIA director to go to Lahore and investigate the matter.
