ISLAMABAD:

Spring is here and we are all looking for refreshing outlets to ward off the winter blues. To herald the chirpy season, Project A, the artsy platform planned an evening of fun, music and food at the quaint Clique Café on Saturday.

The lawn easily accommodated over 60 people, mainly college students. The intimate gathering sat around a litany of amateur performers- singing, playing acoustics and presenting theatrical monologues.

Characterised by its focus on artistic expression, the company is going to be registered this year after a smattering of events such as monthly book clubs, art exhibitions and open microphone night, warmly welcoming anybody with a bit of wit and talent.

“It’s a great platform for anybody and everybody to get discovered, especially young, budding artists.” commented Hussain, from the audience, fondly clicking away with his digital camera.

The event is a popular choice as it incorporates a multitude of ideas, appealing to diverse tastes.

“This generation is easily bored and they need instant gratification to keep them stimulated,” remarked the mother of one of the performers.

The evening popped out performances like pandora’s box: Imran presented a thought-provoking interpretation of ‘Shikwa’, while Maha did a mash-up of MTV-meets-funky desi charts. Hassan and Mohammad moved the audience with their strumming while Elishma crooned fresh and upbeat indie songs.

Moeed Tariq of Project A commented, “It’s as much about a receptive audience. If you’ve bothered to show up, pay for the show (even if it’s just a pittance), your enthusiasm can be a game-changer.”
