A three day polio eradication drive will start in the rural areas of Islamabad from Monday (today), said a press release issued by the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration.

Islamabad Deputy Commissioner (DC) Amer Ali Ahmed said they have divided the rural areas into 11 zones for the drive and 255 mobile teams have been constituted to administer anti-polio drops to over 100,000 children.

He added that 11 zonal supervisors and 47 area in-charges have been deployed to monitor the performance of mobile teams.

ICT staffers from attached departments including revenue, agriculture and union councils have also been deployed to assist the mobile teams. Thirty-five static centres and 10 transit points have been set up in the rural areas to administer drops.

District Health Officer Islamabad Dr Amirzada Khan will personally monitor the performance of mobile teams.

He added that the Islamabad Health Department has achieved 100 per cent results during previous drives and hopes to keep this up.
