Eight ministers allocated additional portfolios

Gilani gives additional charge to eight members of the new 22-member cabinet he formed last month.

Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has given additional charge to eight members of the new 22-member cabinet he formed last month.


The incumbent cabinet had 21 federal ministers and one state minister.

According to a notification issued here on Saturday, Hina Rabbani Khar who is the state minister for foreign affairs, has been given additional charge of state minister for finance. An important portfolio of federal minister for foreign affairs is still lying vacant.

Mian Manzoor Wattoo, the minister for Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan, has been given additional charge of minister for defence production.

Textile Minister Makhdoom Shahhabuddin has been given additional charge of ministry of housing and works. Mian Raza Rabbani, minister for inter-provincial coordination, has been given additional charge of ministry of human rights.

Minister for Religious Affairs Khursheed Shah has been given additional charge of minister for labour and manpower. Shah held the office of minister for labour and manpower before the cabinet reshuffle.

Naveed Qamar has now been given an important ministry of water and power.

Shaukatullah, the new minister for state and frontier regions, has been given additional charge of minister for sports.

He came on the quota for members of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) and replaced Hameedullah Jan Afridi, who earlier served as minister for environment.

Samina Khalid Ghurki, the new minister for environment, has been assigned additional charge of minister for women development.
