QUETTA: A special five-day polio drive will kick off in Quetta from Monday (today) during which immunization drops will be administered to children under five years of age.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) Coordinator Syed Faisal Ahmed said that they decided to carry out the drive after the environmental samples of Quetta were confirmed as positive.

The EOC coordinator said that the immunisation drive will cover 39 union councils of the city during the five days. He added that some 1,345 teams will be part of the drive and it will have 105 fixed sites and 175 transit points along with mobile teams.

Faisal assured that fool-proof security arrangements will also be in place during the campaign for the safety of polio workers. Faisal urged parents, ulema and people belonging to all walks of life to extend their fullest cooperation to make the immunisation campaign a success.
