The Punjab government had announced winter vacations from December 24 until January 1.

The government had announced the holidays through a letter sent by the Punjab School Education Department to all executive district officers of education, directing them to ensure winter vacations were observed as per schedule.

The letter directed them to ensure that all school heads in their jurisdiction observed the winter vacations as per the prescribed dates issued by the government or else they would have faced legal action by the authorities.
