Suspected robbers: Two Afghan nationals arrested

The SP said that the team that solved the case would be awarded cash prizes

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Police have arrested two Afghan nationals who allegedly stole foreign currency and jewellery worth Rs4.2 million from an F-6 resident earlier this month.

The suspects, identified as Anas and Bashar Mal, were traced and arrested by the Special Investigation Unit (SIU).

Sharing details of the case, Investigation SP Capt (retd) Muhammad Ilyas said that on December 14, the suspects chased a resident of Sector F-6/1 from Super Market to his house in Street 44. After the man parked his car outside his home and went in, the suspects allegedly broke the rear window of the car and took away a briefcase which contained Omani Riyals worth Rs2.3 million, gold jewellery worth Rs1.9 million, an ID card, and a cheque book.

The Kohsar police registered a theft case against unidentified persons and handed over the case to SIU, which traced the suspects and nabbed them. Stolen items have also been recovered from the suspects. A rental Toyota car in use of the suspects has also been impounded.

The SP said that the team that solved the case would be awarded cash prizes and commendation certificates for their performance.
