DERA GHAZI KHAN: At least 49 people were arrested while 62 factories and outlets were sealed over adulteration charges during two months in Dera Ghazi Khan.

This was said by MPA Mahmood Khan Leghari during a meeting of the divisional task force on Friday. He said 3,400 spots were raided in the district in which more than 500 kilogrammes of substandard food was seized. He added the food samples were sent to the laboratory for examination.

On the occasion, the MPA instructed the officials to take strict action against those involved in adulteration. He said food inspectors will be imparted training while refresher courses for them will also be held.

Mahmood maintained that officials should check the quality of food in markets and conduct raids on regular basis to curb this menace. Besides, he pointed out the officials should submit picture and video evidence of adulteration so that it could be submitted in the courts.

MPA Mahmood Leghari said those playing with the lives of people will not be spared. He said effective strategy should be devised to address the issue.
