Mass extinction

It is disappointing to see that no substantial efforts are being made to rid the world of this problem

Letter December 23, 2016

RAWALPINDI: Mass extinction refers to the extinction of two out of every three species, and is a phenomenon that is occurring in the world as we speak. It is very much a real problem and everyone needs to be aware of it. This phenomenon is occurring after a period of 66 million years and we must take precautionary measures to prevent it from being successful. Among the long list of endangered species, some of the most prominent are hippopotamus, giant pandas, loggerhead turtles, sea turtles and polar bears.

It is disappointing to see that no substantial efforts are being made to rid the world of this problem. The first step towards achieving this is to accept that it is, in fact, real. As World Wildlife Fund Conservation Scientist Martin Taylor quotes, “We only have planet. If we screw it up, then we’re gone.” It is high time we realised that.
