Pakistan to face Australia in semi final

SAINT LUCIA: Pakistan is all set to face Australia in the semi final of the Twenty 20 World cup on Friday.

The semi final slots were confirmed on Tuesday with Australia and Sri Lanka's victories in their respective matches.

Australia defeated West Indies by six wickets in Saint Lucia to set up a match against Pakistan.

Chasing 106 for victory, Australia reached their target in the 17th over.

Sri Lanka will play against England on Thursday in Saint Lucia while the other two qualifiers Australia and Pakistan will play the semi final on Friday.

The winning teams will return to Barbados for the final match of the tournament on May 16th.

ROKY | 14 years ago | Reply Pakistan is going to lose the semi final because they do not have poetntial to defete Aus such a very strong team. I think India could have win if they had a chance to play the semi final. Neverthless India is a great team and we have Sachin the number one player in the world.

I liked the way Afridi captained the side by varying the bowlers constantly - unpredictability and constant change confused the SA batsmen and were never allowed to get easy runs. My playing XI is: Butt Kamran Razzaq Umar Hafeez Afridi Hammad Asif/Sami Rehman Amir Ajmal I have Razzaq at no.3 because he can be explosive during the fielding restrictions and keep the RR healthy. He has experience playing in this position before and can be game changer. Umar Kamal at no.4 will be ideal for a counter attack and keep the innings together. Hammad Azam should be given a chance - is an X factor for our opponents. Fawad Alam is energetic in the field and can be handy when it comes to playing a supporting role as he did in Australia OR Asif or Sami need to be back in the team. My bet is that Australia will go after Razzaq and may disturb our bowling strategy therefore a genuine pacer is reqd. GLUCK
