SWAT: The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) police on Saturday arrested a high-profile militant for his involvement in attacks on the security forces in Swat.

According to an official at Rahimabad police station, the police, acting on a tipoff, apprehended Rahimullah alias Gul Lala from the suburb of Swat’s Mingora area.

“Rahimullah, hailing from Qambar area in Swat, had been a close aide to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Swat, deputy ameer Maulana Shah-e-Dawaran,” said the official, adding that the militant was wanted by the law enforcement agencies (LEAs) due to his alleged links with the banned outfit. He was also accused of attacking servicemen and masterminding an attack on the house of a deputy superintendent of police, Khuda Bux, in 2008.

“The detained militant will be interrogated by the LEAs in an undisclosed location to trace the hideouts where his other companions are reportedly hiding,” the official said.
