Warner's ton helps Australia sweep ODI series 3-0 against New Zealand

Hosts beat visitors by 117 runs in third ODI to complete whitewash

Steven Smith-led Australian side beat New Zealand by 117 runs in the third ODI on Friday to complete a 3-0 whitewash at Melbourne.

Australia, who opted to bat first, scored set a 265-run target courtesy opener David Warner's 156 off 128 balls courtesy 13 boundaries and four maximums.

For New Zealand, Trent Boult accounted for three batsmen, while Colin de Grandhomme and spinner Mitchell Santner bagged a brace each.

In their chase, New Zealand never looked set and kept losing wickets to end the innings on 147 in 36.1 overs. Martin Guptill top-scored for the visitors with 34 runs off 40 balls.

Mitchell Starc bagged three wickets for the Aussies while Pat Cummins, James Faulkner and Travis Head bagged two wickets a piece.
