The programme titled ‘Meet the Press’ was held at Lahore Press Club. While talking about the May 12 riots, Kamal said the government, state, MQM and other political parties were responsible. “Families of hundreds of MQM workers — who were put behind bars or lost their lives then — are in contact with me and other leaders of PSP,” he said. “We cannot leave them alone otherwise some other Altaf Hussain will use them for his vested interests.”
He accused MQM’s chief for ruining the peace of Karachi.
Kamal questions Altaf's 'mental ailment'
Devolution, democracy
He spoke about the division of power, saying the provincial governments should not park federal transfers under National Finance Commission in provincial capitals, but instead these funds should be transferred to the districts.
“Construction of roads and streets, solid waste collection, installation of streets lights and provision of potable water are not the responsibilities of MNAs, MPAs or chief ministers.
'Altaf, Farooq Sattar are the same thing'
“In any developed society, these are the responsibilities of the mayors and councillors,” he said, adding the ministers were responsible for empowering local representatives and legislations. “Without devolution of power, democracy cannot flourish in the country.”
About the construction of Kalabagh Dam, Kamal said the government should first build small water reservoirs which were undisputed.
