ISLAMABAD: Fresh from his 17-day visit to Britain, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Thursday plunged headlong into work, resuming activities and calling on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

The interior minister spent the day discussing matters pertaining to national security and apprising PM Nawaz in detail about the meetings he held with the British officials.

Chaudhry Nisar also informed the premier about his health on which the latter expressed satisfaction over his complete recovery.

The minister had returned to Pakistan on Wednesday after completing 17 days of his visit to UK.

Chaudhry Nisar had left for England on an official visit on November 13. His visit to the UK had comprised of two parts—the first being his official visit of three-days in which he held meeting with the senior officials including Home Secretary Amber Rudd, Foreign Minister Boris Johnson and National Security Adviser Mark Lyall Grant.

Relations with Britain, the security situation, immigration matters and other issues were discussed during these meetings.

Moreover, matters pertaining to the reference of the Pakistani government against MQM founder Altaf Hussain, and investigation into Dr Imran Farooq murder case were also discussed during his meeting with his UK counterpart.

In his meeting with British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson, who hosted a luncheon in his honour, Nisar discussed with him the regional situation. He was of the view that India by closing its doors for talks had put regional security at risk.

Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and former prime minister David Cameron also held a meeting in London during this tour.

Later he underwent two major surgeries for his hernia and eyes at UK medical facilities.
